Management Team
Philip Gibb
Formerly the CEO of Inexus, Philip spent 20 years developing Inexus into the largest independent utility infrastructure provider and owner in the UK. Inexus was set up by Philip under TotalFinaElf to introduce competition to the UK utilities sector at a time when the large, former state-owned utilities had created large barriers to market entry. Philip grew Inexus from a start up in 1994 to an approximate enterprise value of £750m and annual EBITDA in excess of £50m in 2012, having connected approximately 650,000 homes and business in that period. The company was based in Cardiff and employed nearly 200 people.
Inexus underwent a number of ownership changes. Together with Russell Ward, he led a management buy-out in 2001, under which Inexus was sold for £105m to Star Capital Partners, a private equity group. Star and the management then sold Inexus 4 years later for £465m to Challenger Infrastructure Fund of Australia. The business was then on-sold in late 2012 to Brookfield Infrastructure of Canada. Philip remained the CEO throughout this period.
